Activating your u:account

The u:account is your personal access to the IT services of the University of Vienna. It consists of the u:account UserID and the u:account password.

You already have a u:account and have taken up a new function at the University of Vienna – for example as a student starting an employment or as an external person enrolling in a degree programme?

Information about your u:account

When starting the employment, the permissions for the IT services are automatically assigned to the u:account. You will be notified via e-mail as soon as your u:account is ready for use.

After termination of a degree programme or an employment the privileges of the u:account will be limited or revoked. More information under Expiration of a u:account.

If you still provide services to the University of Vienna after termination of your employment, your u:account can be switched to a u:account for guests. Please ask your contact person or the IT representative of your organisational unit.

Support and contact

The ZID Helpdesk gives general information on the services of the ZID and helps members of the University of Vienna with their university-specific IT problems. It supports users in managing their u:account and password. Furthermore, it takes on reports about maintenance work and service interruptions and shares their information.
